We provide free vehicle checks using data from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and DVSA MOT History API. This includes basic vehicle details, tax status, MOT status, MOT history, and ULEZ/Clean Air Zone compliance information. Free checks are advisory only and carry no guarantee.
Paid checks provide additional vehicle provenance data sourced from third-party providers including Experian (via OneAutoAPI). This may include stolen vehicle checks, outstanding finance records, insurance write-off history, mileage verification, keeper history, and plate change records. Paid tiers are available at the following price points:
Our AI inspection service analyses user-submitted photographs and internet research to provide an advisory condition report. AI analysis may not be 100% accurate. It is advisory only and is not a substitute for a professional mechanical inspection.
The Marketplace allows users to list and browse used cars for sale. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not own, inspect, or take possession of any vehicle listed on the Marketplace.
You must be at least 18 years old and resident in the United Kingdom to use our paid services. By using our services, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
Certain features require you to create an account using Google OAuth or a magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
We reserve the right to change our prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders already placed and paid for.
The Data Guarantee applies to Protected tier SortedCheck reports only. It covers financial losses you suffer as a direct result of materially inaccurate data in the report, up to the guarantee amount stated for your tier.
To make a claim, email support@sortedcars.co.uk with your report reference number, details of the inaccuracy, and evidence of your financial loss. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.

We source vehicle data from third-party providers including the DVLA, DVSA, and Experian (via OneAutoAPI). While we take reasonable steps to ensure accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all information is complete, accurate, or up to date.
SortedCheck reports and SortedInspect AI reports are advisory only. They should be used as part of your own due diligence when buying a vehicle, and are not a substitute for a professional vehicle inspection.
To the extent permitted by law:
The Marketplace is a platform that connects buyers and sellers. We are not a party to any transaction. We do not verify the accuracy of listings, the condition of vehicles, or the identity of sellers beyond the verification checks we perform. You buy or sell at your own risk.
To list a vehicle on the Marketplace, sellers pay a one-off verification fee at one of our published tier prices. The fee covers identity and provenance checks performed before the listing is published, including: identity verification through Persona (Government ID, selfie, V5C document); DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service; DVSA MOT history; and Experian provenance checks (stolen, outstanding finance, insurance write-off, keeper history) supplied through OneAutoAPI. We pay our upstream providers for these checks on a per-vehicle basis, regardless of outcome.
After you submit a listing, our moderation team reviews it before it goes live. If we need clarification or a fix (e.g. clearer dashboard photo, additional description detail, mileage discrepancy), we will mark the listing "Information requested" in your account. You can respond by editing your listing and submitting a reply through the in-app popup; no other communication channel is required or available.
You have 7 days to respond to each information request. If you do not respond within 7 days, the listing will automatically expire and you will need to start a new one. We will email you when an information request is opened so you don't miss it.
We may open up to 3 information-request rounds on a single listing. After the third round, the listing will be either approved or rejected based on the version we have at that point — no further rounds will be opened.
Refunds for the verification fee follow these rules:
Before paying the verification fee, you will be asked to actively confirm two things:
Both confirmations are recorded with a timestamp on your verification record. The Pay button is disabled until both are given.
